Q. Are all these mega-churches for real? It seems to me that they believe in a theology of prosperity, and they orchestrate worship as entertainment. They may be packed with people who like that style, but is this faithful to the gospel?

Q. There are differences between the genealogies of Jesus recorded in Luke and Matthew. In my opinion, Luke lists the genealogy of Christ through Mary’s lineage and Matthew traces Christ’s genealogy through Joseph’s line. Is this correct?

Q. I have discovered that entire theologies are based on how we interpret God’s eternal purpose and the central teaching of Scripture. One theology proposes God’s glory as that eternal purpose; another declares that the central teaching of Scripture is redemption. What is the Presbyterian Church’s stance on this?

Q. I just started as choir director in a Presbyterian church, but as an Episcopalian I find I have a lot of questions. Why does this congregation only have Communion once a month? Why is Communion served with intinction, and not by common cup? Why isn’t reciting a creed together part of the regular worship here?

Q. What should we tell children about Santa Claus? Is the story just harmless mythology? Or are we lying to our children, and teaching them to believe in something non-Christian?

Q. Recently I explained to our church’s youth group that we receive salvation by believing in and following Jesus. One of the girls said that her father had converted to Buddhism, and asked if that meant he would not go to heaven. I said that as I understood it, he would not. He came to see me after that, angrily accusing me of being unchristian and judgmental because I had said he would not be saved. What do I do?

Q. Isn’t baptism necessary for salvation? That seems to be the implication of Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, I Peter 3:21, and other texts.

Q. Is the Bible really the inspired Word of God, and without error? If it is, how do you know it is? If it isn’t, how can you rely on any of it if there is even a small amount of error?

Q. Most Christians believe God is in control of the universe and all within it. How then do we explain things like hurricanes that cause untold suffering and kill thousands of people?

Q. Our church has been discussing how a “corporate” prayer of confession should be prayed. One group wants it printed in the bulletin so the congregation can read it together in unison. Others want this prayer to be led by a minister or elder. Does everyone have to speak the words for it to be “corporate” prayer?
